Almost 5 months after launching its Open Call in September 2014, the SOUL-FI accelerator has now awarded funding to 49 projects to the tune of €10 000 each so that they can write an ignition/business plan to prove their concept of a Future Internet app or service. The 49 projects were selected from 182 completed applications which were received by the first cut-off date on 31 October 2014. Of the first batch of Round A awarded projects, the majority of web development teams come from southern Europe, with Spain leading the rankings with 35% of the projects, Portugal coming in second place with 27% and Italy rounding off the top 3 with 12% of the successful applications. On January 22nd, IPN hosted the kick-off session with the 13 Portuguese projects selected following SOUL-FI’s first Round A cut-off date, in which a grand total of 49 projects were awarded across Europe. They will be granted 10.000€ for the development and validation of their projects’ business model through the implementation of a proof of concept, as well as specialized tutoring provided by a dedicated SOUL-FI team member. Applicants eager to access a larger panel of investors will be stimulated, by the SOUL-FI team, to launch an equity Crowdfunding Campaign, in order to raise additional capital for their companies/projects. The main advantage of this alternative way of equity financing, resides in the fact that it will promote the company extensively from the very start, by offering investors the opportunity to buy shares of the company, thus creating an active community of ambassadors. SOUL-FI Open Calls “NEW Deadlines” standard

Due to the high number of submissions already received and the even higher number expected at the next cut-off dates and in order to provide the best possible service to all call participants, the SOUL-FI consortium, with the approval of the European Commission, has modified the call deadlines as follows. Round A deadlines: Call A1 – 31.10.2014 (already closed) Call A2 – 31.03.2015 (instead of 28.02.2015) Call A3 – cancelled Round B deadlines: Call B1 – 30.04.2015 (instead of 28.02.2015) Call B2 – 31.08.2015 (instead of 30.06.2015) – To be confirmed in Spring 2015 Call B3 – cancelled All related initiatives, documentation, websites, F6S platform et al. have been modified; the SOUL-FI team is available for any further clarification.
